Buckman.. I'm down river from the CR dam, I've never fished the Pete dam, but assume situations are similar. Basically if below about 8000cfs, the power generating chute should be the only thing open (normal). Above that, the overflow and/or spill/flood gates would be open partially. Normal release for the summer might be anything below 7000cfs. During dry stretches, it can get as low as 3000-4000cfs. Usually if above 10,000, the down river shorelines will begin flooding. If over 14,000cfs, there can be massive shore flooding. All the numbers are MY estimations, not to be taken as gospel. Always travel the river at your own risk! Anything over 10,000 and my jon boat stays on the trlr. My 80# Terrova can handle it, but your lures/bait will be down river in a split moment. It's not a lot of fun fishing 4-6mph currents, unless you are in back coves.. IMHO.

Hope that helps you more.

Thank you for the link Major. Unfortunately I cannot make heads or tails of the info on those sites. I keep reading, but where does it tell you what CFS flow is high, low, or normal? I'm better with knowing if the water is raging up to the parking lot, or calm at the bottom of the rocks. I guess I'll call the dam bait shop, and see if he will tell me what it means. Thank you for trying to help me. I'll post a fishing report when I go.

Can anyone tell me the water flow as of today? Don't want to make a 3 hr trip if the water is raging. Thank you.

FISHING REPORT
4/16/15 12:15 AM CST
Conditions: Partly Sunny Air Temp: 56° - 60° F Water Temp: 40° - 45° F
Fished the river today and sorry to say its over, just like that the bigger fish are gone. Lots off small 12-14" males. Not a single female today tho I was getting a few 2 days before. They closed the dam and things were slow until I changed to a orange jig with dark green ringworm. 14 catfish biggest was 22". Did see a few musky caught and one walleye about 17" Little early for crappie so I guess it time for huge flatheads. Try to break that 60# mark this year. Good Fishing. P.S. I love fishing the fox but awfully nice to fish around curious sportsmen/women.

The gates were still open then and raging. We caught both spawned and not spawned out. My opinion I think they will all be spawned out very soon. They have just been coming up in waves this year instead of the normal. Easter sunday was hot and then it got cold and died off. Good Fishing

FISHING REPORT
4/14/15 6:03 PM CST
Conditions: Sunny Water Temp: 40° - 45° F
fished below the dam yesterday, tons of shorts with a few nice females mixed in. Couple cats, no white bass. All fish came by the dam all were in 18-21' of water. Nothing outside of that range except 25" & 26" in the eddie on the right side of the dam. Jig and minnow and ring worms worked well but wolf river rig with floating jigs produced the best. Tried Green, blue, orange, pink and orange worked best. Wold river rig with just a plain hook top producer. Good Fishing!!!

This is a video of a couple of our catches yesterday. They opened all the gates up a bit at about 8 am yesterday morning. Some females had eggs, and some didn't.

Tons of boats out and all the gates were open. Very fast flow today and only one short in 4 hours. Lots of junk in the water IE leaves logs sticks and green goop every time you bring your jig up. Had better days out here. Puke

Found a set of keys at the boat launch on highway 21. I'd like to return them to the owner. If anyone knows someone who lost keys to a Dodge Ram please have them call 6086174532
