Fished below the dam B4 they opened the gates up....caught 3 huge crappies and a few whitebass. Moved around and found the whitebass again....caught 25 WB....a 27" northern too....and 3-20" cats..all still swimming too.. It was raining slightly this early Am but cleared up nicely....only reason I quit fishing.....I ran out of minnows. Nice day on the water. Great to see and talk to Dusty again.

Air Temp: 81° - 88° F
Fished the dam last night. 13 eyes. 9 shorts. None in keeper slot. Other four were 21, 22, 22, & 25". Couldn't keep any of them. Only saw one eater caught. Had a blast. All caught on stick baits.

Looking to possibly make a trip up this weekend and just wondering how the cats and white bass are biting, along with the water temp.

Thanks, Dan

Buckman.. I'm down river from the CR dam, I've never fished the Pete dam, but assume situations are similar. Basically if below about 8000cfs, the power generating chute should be the only thing open (normal). Above that, the overflow and/or spill/flood gates would be open partially. Normal release for the summer might be anything below 7000cfs. During dry stretches, it can get as low as 3000-4000cfs. Usually if above 10,000, the down river shorelines will begin flooding. If over 14,000cfs, there can be massive shore flooding. All the numbers are MY estimations, not to be taken as gospel. Always travel the river at your own risk! Anything over 10,000 and my jon boat stays on the trlr. My 80# Terrova can handle it, but your lures/bait will be down river in a split moment. It's not a lot of fun fishing 4-6mph currents, unless you are in back coves.. IMHO.

Hope that helps you more.

Thank you for the link Major. Unfortunately I cannot make heads or tails of the info on those sites. I keep reading, but where does it tell you what CFS flow is high, low, or normal? I'm better with knowing if the water is raging up to the parking lot, or calm at the bottom of the rocks. I guess I'll call the dam bait shop, and see if he will tell me what it means. Thank you for trying to help me. I'll post a fishing report when I go.

Can anyone tell me the water flow as of today? Don't want to make a 3 hr trip if the water is raging. Thank you.
