If u don't find carp on crystal you could always hit lake wisconsin also as its right there. I have been seeing guys carp shooting out there for the last week. Don't know of their success however.

Having a tournament on a body of water this size is ridiculous.

I think fish and mud lakes just down the road would be a better bet

I am not positive about all tournaments on Crystal this year, but I know Schoepps puts on tourneys here. Call Dale for more information at: Dale Schoepp, 608-643-6396

But, if you are curious and have a few minutes, go to this link:

http://dnr.wi.gov/topic/fishing/tournaments/

You can see every tournament approved by the DNR for any body of water. But, you do need to keep in mind that many tournaments keep their boat count 19 or less so they dont have to register with the DNR, so the calendar with the tourneys on the DNR site isnt exactly complete. Hope that helps!

not a report, but rather a question.

Last year I remember seeing a bass tournament on this lake, but don't know who put it on. Does anyone know of any tournaments on this lake for this upcoming year?

TIA

FISHING REPORT
2/17/16 9:19 PM CST
Conditions: Sunny Air Temp: 21° - 25° F
Pretty decent crappie and perch bite today. Fishing in 11 FOW, fish were suspended a bit and fairly aggressive, all fish released. Waxies were the trick. Question, is it common to catch crappies over 8-9"? Having trouble finding bigger then the 9 inch mark.

FISHING REPORT
2/15/16 9:20 PM CST
Ice Depth: 15" Conditions: Cloudy Air Temp: 21° - 25° F
Fished for about 3 hours tonight. Took awhile to figure out what the fish wanted. Started using a tip down with minnow, jig with waxie, and jig with spikes and a minnow head. Started switching everything until I finally found what they were biting on. Small red glow jig tipped with a waxie and charging the glow jig frequently. Fished in 11-12 FOW with most fish being marked between 8-10 FOW. Finished the night with 6 crappies all over 8", all released.

If you are fishing for Northern Pike, Fish Lake is the place to go. There is a fisheree this Saturday so it will be packed with people.

I'm considering this lake or Fish Lake. Never been to either. Would really like to hook a northern for the first time. Any preferences on which lake is better or any advice you can give a guy? I will have tip-ups and shiners and jigging supplies.

FISHING REPORT

Fish Sandwich, I was trying to deter people from that end. it was UNSAFE for big vehicle travel. When I say EAST, I was about 100yards out in front of the brown house. There was at least one area over there that had less than 8". I was out last night and did pretty good. Fished 630-11.

Here's the real report. You can drive on crystal. A couple weeks ago someone posted that the east end is thin so people wouldn't drive there. I checked the day after that post and it was 12+ inches and the crappies and perch were there. Head out from the launch, to the center of the lake and head a bit east towards the stumps. You should be in 13' straight out from the launch and heading east go until 10.5'. The perch will keep you busy in between crappie schools. The crappies will go on a rampage for a half hour around dusk. They seem to be moving east to west in that time period. I would suspect they can be caught somewhere further west after dark. They all run small compared to other places but the crappies are worth cleaning as well as 1 out of every dozen perch. I would have nothing to do with Shoepp's resort, they are nothing but rude to fisherman and treat everyone as though they are outsiders and trespassers. Bring your own food and bait, use the public launch, and avoid that place.

you have no idea how difficult it is to catch .08 of a fish do you haha.

i cannot get the image (screen clip) to attach to this post so go to the cottonwood club fisheree facebook page for the results.
